  1. Thought I'd make a thread for some quick sketches based on the trailers. Everyone should feel free to contribute.

First one: One of the monsters. Ink&brush, about 12 minutes. 1368525319108.jpg

Oops, I was just joking, that was a reference to what Gordon Ramsay once said. Evertime I write "congratulations" I can't help but putting "on the best/worst thingy is this competition so far"!

But if Precursor launch a art contest, like they did with the writing one, you should totally participate. I like your painting.

  5. Ah! I see! I'm lucky enough to only know Gordon Ramseys shows by reputation, never having witnessed the horror myself. Anyhow.... thanks!

  7. Thanks! Here's one of Lady Bathory. Ladies are a bit more difficult when drawing straight with a brush, so this one took about... 25 minutes? 30 including a failed attempt? 1368531783043.jpg

I like the fact that these are REAL speed paintings - that is with traditional media rather than digital. Its been a very long time since I've done real (finished) artwork with traditional mediums, but over the last while I've been doing sketches in pen/ink and watercolour, so these are really inspiring. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Thank you! I've been doing a lot of work with a brush the last few years, and it's refreshing. I used to work almost exclusively digitally the first few years of my professional career, and it's just been lucky accident after lucky accident that made me go back towards analogue. And now the last year or so almost all my clients want my brush-style, so that's awesome.

Drawing directly with a brush like this is really nerve-wracking, since any single mistake might literally ruin the whole piece. But that's half the fun! Keeps me focused!.;)

Wow, these are simply amazing.. Stylized though it may be, the amount of detail you've reached is incredible, considering the nature of the work. Love the extra little splash of color that comes from the monster's eyes, as well.

    Consider me impressed!

  14. I want these on my WALL. In my bathroom. Because they will scare the urm - stuffing - out of me. I really love these though, I think they should be used in the game - as pictures on the wall that twist and change shape (when insanity starts to take hold) because they would look so surreal in a different time period.
